The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company was founded in 1900 by Harvey Firestone in the rubber capital of the world—Akron, Ohio. Harvey Firestone recognized the overwhelming potential for automobile tires. Every driver wants something different—and Firestone is prepared to give it to them.
Firestone became the original equipment supplier to Ford Motor Company for the Model T in 1906, and Firestone continued producing tires for the replacement market, which kept the business growing until 1988.
Bridgestone was founded in 1931 by Shojiro Ishibashi in Japan. Japan started slowly producing automobiles in the 1930s, and Bridgestone became the first tire manufacturing company to offer tires nationwide in 1932.
Bridgestone and Firestone merged in 1988 when the Bridgestone Corporation bought Firestone. Bridgestone recently joined MICHELIN® and Goodyear to become one of the “Big Three” tire companies in the United States. Today, Bridgestone sells tires on six of the seven continents.

Proper tire repairs should be performed by trained tire service professionals using manufacturer approved procedures. If a tire continually loses inflation pressure or has lost all or most of its inflation pressure, it must be removed from the wheel for a complete internal inspection to check for damage.
It is not uncommon for a nail or other pointed piece of debris to puncture a tire. Flat tires are dangerous to use, it is advised that motorists only drive on them in extreme circumstances. A plug and a patch can add thousands of miles to a damaged tire. For a punctured tire, our staff will patch, plug, or seal the damaged area. If your tire is losing air due to valve stem damage or if the tire is not securely attached to the wheel’s rim, our tire repair service staff will be able to help.
You should rotate your tires to prevent uneven tread wear. Uneven tread commonly occurs because most vehicles do not distribute weight evenly between the front and rear tires. In general, front tires tend to deteriorate more quickly than rear tires due to their location and the weight of a vehicle’s engine. By rotating your tires, you’ll distribute the wear more evenly, and you won’t need to replace your tires as frequently.
Your tires contribute to vehicle performance. Tire maintenance can protect your investment by extending the life of your tires. Checking tire pressure, rotating your tires, balancing your tires, and choosing the right set of replacement tires based on safety and handling will all contribute to consistent performance.
Take these tips into consideration when servicing your tires. Other mechanical issues may contribute to uneven tire wear, and need correction in order to maximize tire life and vehicle performance. By taking proper care of your tires, you can remain safe during all types of travel, experience the benefits of better fuel economy, and extend tire life, which will positively impact the environment.
